Hello all,

Hope you are well.

I recently purchased a set of Shaolin robes (yay) but I was wondering if anyone could help me with wrapping them properly.

Is there a 'correct' way of doing it or is it just a matter of tying up the elastic however works.

@Damien Campbell-Bell I know you normally reply so tagging you. 🙂

Thanks in advance.

@Patrick Seguin Thank you. I had briefly watched that a while ago but forgotten about it. I think I need some longer elastic as the ones that came with the suit aren't long enough.

I had the same issue. Those elastics can be found in any fabric store. I sewed velcro on the ends when I found the right length.

I think they are probably about as half as long as they need to be.

What’s the Velcro for? Is that better than tying a knot?

It's just a matter of preference. I find it quick, always has the same tension and I don't have the knot digging into my leg.

Oh my gosh ! I looked for this all over the internet and scored zero. Thanks so much . I always want a pair of the lovely blue ones like Shifu wears.
Need elastic, was using socks cut in loops.

They have a huge range of Shaolin style clothes and a great variety of colours. 🙂

They do custom stuff too. Its where I got mine from and they are really good quality and the women who runs it is really helpful. 🙂

@Aaron Andrews My preference is to not wrap fully but to just put a band around the top, just below the knee to keep them up. I generally use elastic, and either tie a knot, or for extra comfort, as already suggested, have velcro ends.

You can see an example of this in my profile pic.

This is what Shifu does most of the time too.
